Lieutenant D.J. Cruz

Executive Officer

LT Cruz was born and raised in Killeen, TX. He has his BA degree in Criminal Justice Administration and enlisted in the United States Navy November 2007. He received his commission as a Limited Duty Officer May 2017.

Since commissioned, DJ served onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) as the Ship’s Secretary, Personnel Officer, Educational Services Officer, and Administrative Department Principal Assistant where he earned his Officer of the Deck qualification and Surface Warfare Officer Pin. Then transferred to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, where he served as the Director, Training and Support/Transient Personnel and Administration Officer (N1). He is currently as the Executive Officer, Submarine Readiness Squadron Three Three.

During his enlisted time, he served onboard USS SAN JUAN (SSN 751) and was Command Advanced to Second Class. Here he earned his Submarine Dolphins and qualified Chief of the Watch and Duty Chief. He then transferred to Naval Ordnance Test Unit, Cape Canaveral FL where he was the Assistant Administration Officer. Here he advance to First Class and was selected as the command’s Sailor of the Year. Ending his enlisted time he transferred to USS MAINE (SSBN 741) (GOLD) where he served as the Leading Yeoman and was Commission under the Limited Duty Officer Program.

His personal awards include the Navy, Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (5), as well as many other campaign awards.
