CMDCM(SS) David Wietlisbach

Command Master Chief

Master Chief Wietlisbach, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, enlisted in the United States Navy in September 2001. Following completion of basic training in Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he completed both Submarine School and Communication Electronics Technician “A” school.

In May 2003, he reported to USS BREMERTON (SSN 698) stationed in San Diego, California, finished up a Western Pacific (WESTPAC) deployment and changed homeport to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for an Engineered Refueling Overhaul (ERO). While in ERO, he transferred to Naval Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut for “C” school and returned to USS BREMERTON where he completed a WESTPAC deployment.

In January 2010, he transferred to shore duty at SEAL DELIVERY VEHICLE TEAM ONE (SDVT-1) to serve as an Advanced Seal Delivery System (ASDS) technician. There he worked to decommission ASDS and returned again to USS BREMERTON in April 2011 for his LPO tour. During his LPO tour he completed a WESTPAC deployment, a CENTCOM deployment, advancing to Chief Petty Officer in 2013. In January 2014, he transferred to USS HOUSTON (SSN 713) for his LCPO and Department Chief tour and completed a WESTPAC deployment. In June 2016, he transferred to COMSUBRON ONE (CSS-1) for shore duty and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In September 2019 Master Chief Wietlisbach relieved as Chief of the Boat onboard USS SPRINGFIELD (SSN 761) where he completed two Change of Homeports and two WESTPAC's. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
