Pearl Harbor Honors Fallen Service Members

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (May 30, 2016) – Captain Craig Blakely, commander of Submarine Squadron 7 based at the historic submarine piers of Pearl Harbor, addresses Memorial Day guests at the USS Parche Submarine Park and Memorial at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The service honored past submariners and paid tribute to the 65 U.S. submarines lost since 1915, with 52 lost during World War II alone. Petzoldt, commanding officer of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705), is piped ashore at the conclusion of a Memorial Day decommissioning ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
