CMDCM (SS) Dexter Buckley

Command Master Chief

Master Chief Dexter C. Buckley, a native of Spring Hill, Arkansas, enlisted in the United States Navy in November 2004. He attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. Following completion of basic training, he reported to Groton, Connecticut, and completed Basic Enlisted Submarine School, the Submarine Electronics Computer Field pipeline, and Navigation Electronics Technician “A” School.

At sea, Master Chief Buckley served in Navigation Division onboard USS Olympia (SSN 717) from 2006 to 2011, as the Assistant Navigator onboard USS Columbus (SSN 762) from 2014 to 2019, and as the Chief of the Boat onboard USS Iowa (SSN 797) from 2022 to 2025. Ashore, Master Chief Buckley served as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes from 2011 to 2014.

He served on the staff of Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the Force Assistant Navigator and Combat Readiness Team’s Navigation Evaluator from 2019 to 2022. Master Chief Buckley relieved as the Command Master Chief of USS Frank Cable (AS 40) in September 2025.

His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
