CMDCM (SS) Josh S. Strauch

Command Master Chief

Master Chief Strauch is a native of Stony Point, New York. He enlisted in the Navy in 1995.

 

After completing basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Master Chief Strauch reported onboard USS LOUISIANA (SSBN 743)(GOLD) in April 2000 as a Fire Control Technician. During his tour he completed eight strategic deterrent patrols. Following this tour, he reported as an Instructor to Naval Submarine School Groton, CT. During this tour, he advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2006 and completed his Master Training Specialist qualification. Upon completion of shore duty he reported to the USS MAINE (SSBN 741)(BLUE) as the Fire Control Technician Leading Chief Petty Officer. During his tour he completed eight strategic deterrent patrols leading the Weapons Department as the Tactical Systems Department Enlisted Advisor.

Upon completion of his Leading Chief Petty Officer tour he reported to Pacific Fleet Nuclear Weapons Inspection Detachment, Bangor WA. During this tour he conducted 18 Nuclear Weapons inspections, and completed a Bachelor of Sciences in Sports Management with a concentration in coaching from American Military University. Also during this tour he graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy in December 2016. In March 2020, he reported to USS PENNSYLVANIA (SSBN as Chief of the Boat. During this tour he completed 3 Strategic deterrent patrols culminating as the Battle “E” award recipient for CSS17 for CY 2022. In May 2023 he reported to USS Frank Cable (AS 40) as Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Strauch's personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (four awards), and various other personal and unit decorations.
