CMDCM(SS) Kevin Swanson
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Swanson is a native of Elgin Illinois. He enlisted in the Navy in August 1999 and attended Basic Training at Naval Station Great Lakes. After graduating from basic training. He attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School, Machinist Mate A and C school in Groton CT.
His first afloat assignment was USS LOUISVILLE (SSN-724) out of Pearl Harbor Hawaii. While onboard he completed 3 Western Pacific Deployments, and supported combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2003 he transferred to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1 where he deployed on the first ever deployment of the Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS). In 2006 he was meritoriously advanced to First Class Petty Officer and transferred to Naval Special Warfare Center Advanced Training Command, where he was selected as Instructor of the Year 2008. In 2009 he transferred to USS HOUSTON (SSN-713) in Guam, and was sent on temporary duty to USS CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI (SSN-705). After 1 year he returned to USS HOUSTON and completed 4 Western pacific deployments, he was also promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 2012. After completion of his Chief tour he transferred to Performance Monitoring Team Pearl Harbor and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. In 2015 he was sent TAD to USS BUFFALO (SSN-705) and completed 1 Western Pacific Deployment. He then transferred to USS TOPEKA (SSN-754) in Guam and completed 2 Western Pacific Deployments and was selected for Master Chief Petty Officer. He completed his Chief of the Boat tour from 2018 to 2021 on the USS OKLAHOMA CITY (SSN-723), completing 3 western Pacific deployments and earning the Battle Efficiency 2 years in a row.
He is currently serving as Command Master Chief at Naval Ocean Processing Facility Dam Neck.
His personal awards include 6 Navy Commendation medals, 10 Navy Achievement medals, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service medal, and numerous other unit and command Citations.
