PEARL HARBOR (June 6, 2016) Sailors, assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Houston (SSN 713),  render honors to the USS Arizona Memorial as the ship departs Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for the final time, June 6. Houston is en route to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington, to commence its inactivation process and decommissioning after 33 years of service. JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (May 30, 2016) – Captain Craig Blakely, commander of Submarine Squadron 7 based at the historic submarine piers of Pearl Harbor, addresses Memorial Day guests at the USS Parche Submarine Park and Memorial at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The service honored past submariners and paid tribute to the 65 U.S. submarines lost since 1915, with 52 lost during World War II alone.
