Commanding Officer, Blue Crew, USS Pennsylvania

Commander Hans Fosser received his commission graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.   He assumed command of USS PENNSYLVANIA(SSBN 735)(BLUE) on 25 August 2017.
 
Following initial training, he reported aboard USS DALLAS (SSN 700), where he qualified in submarines and served in various division officer positions. Subsequent sea tours included USS LOS ANGELES (SSN 688) as Engineer Officer and, USS ALABAMA (SSBN 731)(BLUE) as Executive Officer.  Commander Fosser has deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, and Western Pacific in addition to completing three strategic deterrent patrols.

Ashore, Commander Fosser served as the Deputy Commander, Missile Warning Center, Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center, Squadron Material/Engineer Officer Submarine Squadron EIGHT, Special Assistant for Emergency Planning, Submarine Group TEN and most recently as the Deputy Commander for Readiness on the staff of Submarine Squadron TWENTY, Kings Bay, GA. 

Commander Fosser is entitled to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal and, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal along with various unit awards.
