Cmdr. Trevor Gonger

Commanding Officer, Blue Crew, USS Pennsylvania

Commander Trevor Conger is a native of Sammamish, Washington. He was commissioned in 2004 through the NROTC program at Boston University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Marine Biology.

After completing the Naval Nuclear Power and submarine training pipelines, Commander Conger reported onboard USS NEVADA (SSBN 733)(GOLD) in August 2006 where he served as Sonar Officer, Damage Control Assistant, Reactor Controls Assistant, Assistant Operations Officer, and Refueling Officer. On NEVADA, he completed three strategic deterrent patrols and the first 15 months of an Engineered Refueling Overhaul. Following this tour, he reported as the Personnel Exchange Program (PEP) Officer assigned to the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Officer Candidate School in Etajima, Japan where he served as an instructor and liaison officer. During this tour, he completed a Masters in Business Administration from Webster University and JPME Phase I through the Naval War College.

Upon completion of the Submarine Officer Advanced Course, he reported onboard USS TEXAS (SSN 775) in March 2012 as Engineer Officer. During this tour, he completed a 22 month Extended Drydock Selected Restricted Availability (EDSRA) and subsequent sea trials and crew reproficiency. In December 2014, he reported to Submarine Squadron Four in Groton, CT as the Squadron Engineer. He served as Executive Officer on USS PENNSYLVANIA (SSBN 735)(GOLD) from August 2016 to May 2018 and completed two strategic deterrent patrols. He served as Commanding Officer, Moored Training Ship 626 at Nuclear Power Training Unit, Charleston from November 2018 to February 2021.

Commander Conger’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various personal and unit decorations.
