CDR Jeffrey Cornielle

Commanding Officer, USS Minnesota (SSN 783)

A native of Queens, NY, Commander Jeffrey Cornielle graduated from The Citadel in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as part of the Navy’s Seaman to Admiral Program. He also holds a Master's in Engineering Management from Pennsylvania State University.

Afloat, his tours include USS Jacksonville (SSN 699) as the Machinery Division Leading Petty Officer, USS Texas (SSN775) as a Division Officer, USS Topeka (SSN754) as the Combat Systems Officer, and USS Jefferson City (SSN 759) as the Executive Officer. He has completed seven deployments, and all four of these ships have earned the Battle Efficiency “E” award from their respective Submarine Squadrons. In 2021, USS Jefferson City was also awarded the prestigious Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy, recognizing superior performance in their improvements in Battle Efficiency.

Ashore, he served as the S9G Prospective Nuclear Engineer Officer and Tactics Instructor at the Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific in Pearl Harbor, as the Officer in Charge of the Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific Guam detachment, and as Special Assistant to Commander Naval Forces Marianas. He also served as the Deputy Commander for Readiness at Submarine Squadron Fifteen.

His military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (nine awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
