CMDCM(SS) Aaron Lee
Command Master Chief, Submarine Group 9
Master Chief Lee, a native of Long Beach, California, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1997, and after boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended basic enlisted submarine school and machinist mate "A" and "C" school at Naval Submarine School, Groton, Connecticut. His academic achievements include the Senior Enlisted Academy, Chief of the Boat (COB)/Command Master Chief (CMC) Capstone course; MCPON Executive Leadership Course; and the National Defense University Keystone Course. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Studies from Southern New Hampshire University.
At sea, Lee reported for duty as a machinist's mate aboard USS Los Angeles (SSN 688); as leading petty officer aboard USS Nevada (SSBN 733) Blue and as an auxiliary chief petty officer aboard USS Henry M. Jackson (SSBN 730) Gold. He served as chief of the boat aboard USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735) Blue and earned the Olympic bowl trophy for top ballistic missile submarine in the Pacific Fleet for 2014. As chief of the boat of USS Ohio (SSGN 726) Gold, during his tour, his crew received the battle "E" efficiency award to recognize their high standards of performance in the commands mission areas for 2017.
Lee's shore assignments included service as recruiter in charge at Navy Recruiting District Michigan; as damage control assistant aboard Submarine Squadron 19; fleet chief petty officer team training lead of U.S. Pacific Fleet; Naval Submarine School command master chief; and Submarine Squadron Seventeen.
He reported as Command Master Chief, Submarine Group Nine in June 2023.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
