Commander Matthew Campbell
Executive Officer

CDR Matt Campbell is a native of San Diego, California and enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 2003. He was selected for the Seaman to Admiral-21 Program in 2005 and commissioned in 2008 through the Virginia Tech ROTC program, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management.
At sea, he served aboard USS Philadelphia (SSN 690) as well as USS Norfolk (SSN 714) where he deployed to the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM).
CDR Campbell also served as the Navigator and Operations Officer aboard USS Nebraska GOLD (SSBN 739), completing two strategic deterrent patrols. He deployed on the staff of Carrier Strike Group EIGHT as part of the HARRY S. TRUMAN CSG in support of numerous combat operations in the COMFIFTHFLT area of responsibility.
Ashore, CDR Campbell served as a tactics instructor at the Submarine Learning Facility in Norfolk, Virginia where he earned the master training specialist qualification. He served as flag aide to the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command. He also served as the Executive Officer at Submarine Learning Facility in Norfolk, Virginia. Most recently, he served on the USFF staff as the undersea and strategic platform officer.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards). He has also been privileged to serve on submarine crews that were awarded two Arleigh Burke Trophies and the Battle “E” award.
