Think Guam First!

If you want to be part of a proud command, one that's home-ported where the Navy is actually building facilities and getting bigger… If you’re looking forward to seeing the world with the opportunity to step out on your own and explore off the beaten path… If you enjoy making things better, providing quality service and earning recognition for your hard work… This is the place for you. Here are a few more reasons to consider Guam and USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40) first:

Port Visits

This ship visits ports all over the Pacific. From 2006 to present, Frank Cable visited Japan, Hong Kong, Saipan, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia and Philippines.

Education

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) schools are exceptional. Your children will probably attend the best schools of their entire lives. Class sizes are small (average 15-20) and the teachers are top professionals. Textbooks, computers, lab equipment, etc. are the best. The entire DOD school system ranks atop almost all state systems in nationwide testing.

Morale, Welfare and Recreation

We have a full time Morale, Welfare and Recreation petty officer. Activities on Guam include some of the best scuba diving, fishing and water sports.

Fitness

We have a ship’s gym stocked with some of the latest work out programs and gear.

Diversity

We have a rich and diverse crew with more than 1,200 Sailors and civilian mariners whose cultural and ethnic backgrounds represent a wide variety of nations and locals including Guam, Puerto Rico, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, Mexico, Russia, Laos, China, Hungary, Cuba, Spain, Costa Rica and many more.

Local Chamorro Culture

The people of Guam and the island culture are outstanding. Are you tired of rude behavior? Are you fed up with "big city" traffic, packed expressways and crowded tunnels? Are you looking for peace and solitude? Think Guam.

Travel

Even if you simply want to travel... Tokyo, Australia, Singapore and many other exotic places are only a three-hour flight away.

So, consider an assignment on USS Frank Cable (AS 40). Bring your family. Guam is a great place. It's an overseas assignment on a forward deployed submarine tender where the Navy is growing.

Guam and USS Frank Cable… Getting better all the time!
