David S. Stephenson

Master Chief Stephenson, a native of Ruidoso, New Mexico, enlisted in the Navy in August 1990. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to SK “A” School in Meridian Miss. followed by Basic Enlisted Submarine School, Groton Connecticut. LSSCM Stephenson is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy where he earned the Surface Warfare Heritage Award, and the Command Master Chief Course.
Master Chief Stephenson’s early assignments include tours on USS Honolulu (SSN 718), USS Nevada (SSBN 733) (Gold), USS Toledo (SSN 769), USS Alaska (SSBN 732) (Blue), and the USS Nevada (SSBN 733) (Blue), where he completed numerous deployments and strategic deterrent patrols.
His shore command tours include Submarine Logistics Support Center Bremerton Wa, Trident Training Facility Bangor, Washington, and FISC Puget Sound.
Master Chief Stephenson’s chief of the boat tour was aboard USS Nevada (SSBN 733) (Blue), during which time his boat was awarded with the 2015 Battle Efficiency (Battle “E”) Award and the 2015 Trident Submarine Outstanding Performance Award.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
