Captain Lacy Lodmell

Captain Lacy Lodmell enlisted in the United States Navy in 1998 from Malta, Montana as a nuclear-trained Electronics Technician. He was selected for the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program in 2000, earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho, and was commissioned via Officer Candidate School in 2003. He earned a Master of Arts in national security and strategic studies from the United States Naval War College in 2010.
Following initial submarine officer training, Captain Lodmell completed four strategic deterrent patrols onboard USS Louisiana (SSBN 743) (Gold) from 2005 to 2008, during which the ship received the 2006 Omaha Trophy. As a department head, he conducted two Western Pacific deployments as Navigator and Operations Officer on USS Ohio (SSGN 726) (Blue) from 2011 to 2014. His Executive Officer tour was onboard USS Mississippi (SSN 782) from 2016 to 2018, where he deployed to the Western Pacific and the crew received the Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy for 2016. He commanded USS Oregon (SSN 793) from 2020 through 2023, where he completed new construction and sea trials, commissioned the ship, and conducted a short-notice two-month deployment to the European Command area of responsibility.
Ashore, Captain Lodmell was the anti-submarine warfare requirements officer on the U.S. THIRD Fleet staff, supported SSGN and naval special warfare operations as Weapons Officer for Submarine Squadron Nineteen, managed the nuclear enlisted community as OPNAV N133D on the staff of the Chief of Naval Personnel, enabled San Diego submarine operations as the Deputy for Training at Submarine Squadron Eleven, and served as the Material Officer for Submarine Group Nine.
Captain Lodmell was fortunate to be a part of high-performing teams aboard submarines that received multiple Meritorious Unit Commendations and Battle Efficiency “E” awards and is authorized to wear various personal decorations.
