CDR Micah Maxwell
Commanding Officer, USS Buffalo (SSN 715)
A native of Hanford California, CDR Micah Maxwell graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1999 with a degree in Ocean Engineering. After completing Nuclear Power and Submarine Basic training, CDR Maxwell reported to the fast attack submarine USS CHARLOTTE (SSN 766) in April 2001. While assigned, the ship completed one six-month Western Pacific Deployment and one Selected Restricted Availability.
From July 2004 to June 2006, he served at Commander Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet as a Submarine Watch Officer and as the Assistant Force Nuclear Power Officer. Upon graduation from the Submarine Officer's Advanced Course in November 2006, he reported to USS ALASKA (SSBN-732), where he served as the Engineer Officer.
During his next tour CDR Maxwell performed duties as the Submarine Squadron ONE Engineer. From November 2011 to June 2013 CDR Maxwell served as the Executive Officer on USS CHEYENNE (SSN 773), completing one Western Pacific Deployment and earning the Submarine Squadron Seven Battle Efficiency Award for Excellence.
Following this tour, CDR Maxwell served as the Commander Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet Force Nuclear Power Officer. He resides in Mililani with his wife Carmel also of Hanford California and their two sons, Henry and Marco.
CDR Maxwell is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards).
