Commander Joseph Campbell
Commanding Officer, Gold Crew, USS Kentucky
CDR Campbell, a native of Atlanta, GA, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2002 with a B.S. in English. He earned a M.S. in Management from the University of Maryland, University College as well as a M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
CDR Campbell first served as a division officer aboard USS Scranton (SSN 756) where he completed a Central Command deployment in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. As Department Head, CDR Campbell served as the Strategic Weapons Officer of USS Alabama (SSBN 731) (BLUE) where he completed four strategic deterrent patrols. He next served as the Executive Officer aboard USS VIRGINIA (SSN 774) where he completed a European Command deployment.
Ashore, CDR Campbell has served as a staff member and instructor at the United States Naval Academy, Assistant Officer-in-Charge and nuclear weapons inspector at US Fleet Forces Command Nuclear Weapons Inspection Detachment Kings Bay, GA. He most recently served as the Director of Nuclear Field and Submarine Accessions at Navy Recruiting Command in Millington, TN.
