USS Nebraska Successfully Tests Trident II D5 Missile

180326-N-UK333-005 PACIFIC OCEAN (March 26, 2008) An unarmed Trident II D5 missile launches from the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Nebraska (SSBN 739) off the coast of California. The test launch was part of the U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Program’s demonstration and shakedown operation certification process. The successful launch certified the readiness of an SSBN crew and the operational performance of the submarine’s strategic weapons system before returning to operational availability. SAN DIEGO (May 13, 2016) Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Sims is piped ashore after being relieved by Lt. Cmdr. Zachary Harry as commanding officer of the auxiliary repair drydock, medium, Arco (ARDM 5) in a time-honored change of command ceremony held at Naval Base Point Loma, May 13. Arco is the second drydock to bear the name Arco and was built by the Todd Pacific Shipyard Corporation, Seattle, Washington. 160311-N-QA919-061 Arctic Circle (March 13, 2016) - Ice Camp Sargo, located in the Arctic Circle, serves as the main stage for Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2016 and will house more than 200 participants from four nations over the course of the exercise. ICEX 2016 is a five-week exercise designed to research, test, and evaluate operational capabilities in the region. ICEX 2016 allows the U.S. Navy to assess operational readiness in the Arctic, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment, and develop partnerships and collaborative efforts. SAN DIEGO (Feb. 12, 2016) Capt. Brian Davies, right, relieves Capt. Eugene Doyle during a change of command ceremony aboard the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Pasadena (SSN 752). Davies relieved Doyle to become the 19th commodore of Submarine Squadron 11, which is responsible for manning, equipping and training five Los Angeles-class submarines, the floating drydock Arco (ARDM 5) and Undersea Rescue Command.
