Ohio Gold Conducts Change of Command Ceremony

BANGOR, Wash. (April 20, 2016) " Capt. Michael Lewis, from Bend, Oregon, receives the Legion of Merit medal from Rear Adm. David Kriete, commander, Submarine Group Nine, during a change of command ceremony for the Gold Crew of the guided-missile submarine USS Ohio (SSGN 726). PUGET SOUND, Wash. (March 13, 2016) - The Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Kentucky (SSBN 737) departs Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor for the boat's first strategic deterrent patrol since 2011. The boat recently completed a 40-month Engineered Refueling Overhaul, which will extend the life of the submarine for another 20 years. Land's and Ohio's visit to Malaysia continues the U.S. Navy's ongoing commitment to theater security, cooperation and friendship with local partner navies. Emory S. Land is a forward deployed expeditionary submarine tender on an extended deployment conducting coordinated tended moorings and afloat maintenance in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations.
