Captain Jeff Bierley
Chief of Staff
CAPT Bierley graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He also holds master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and National Security Studies from the Naval War College.
At sea, his first submarine assignment was USS OKLAHOMA CITY (SSN 723). Follow-on assignments include engineer officer on USS OHIO (SSGN 726) and USS HELENA (SSN 725), and executive officer on USS CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI (SSN 705). His at sea command assignments were as commanding officer of USS SEAWOLF (SSN 21) and USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40).
His shore and staff assignments include squadron engineer on the staff of Commander, Submarine Development Squadron TWELVE, action officer at U.S. Joint Forces Command and Joint Staff J7 Joint and Combined Warfighting Center, and director maritime headquarters, assistant chief of staff for training and readiness, and director of the commander’s initiatives group at U.S. SEVENTH Fleet.
CAPT Bierley’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit (three awards), the Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards).
