Master Chief (SS/IW) Anthony Amato
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Amato is a native of Beacon, New York and enlisted in the United States Navy in July 2001. Following Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, he attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Submarine Machinist’s Mate “A” school in Groton, CT.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty onboard Submarines as an Auxiliary Machinist’s Mate. His Fleet assignments include: USS OKLAHOMA CITY (SSN 723), USS SAN FRANCISCO (SSN 711), and USS NORFOLK (SSN 714). Master Chief Amato completed shore assignments at Naval Recruiting District New England and most recently, SPAWAR Atlantic.
In April 2015, Master Chief Amato graduated the Senior Enlisted Academy and in May 2018, he completed the Chief of the Boat / Command Master Chief course in Newport, RI. In July 2018, he reported as the Chief of the Boat onboard USS JOHN WARNER (SSN 785) and in May 2021, Master Chief Amato assumed the duties as Command Master Chief at Naval Ocean Processing Facility, Whidbey Island.
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 awards), as well as various unit and campaign awards. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from University of Charleston, WV.
