
CDR Alex Rinaldi
Commanding Officer, USS Mississippi (SSN 782)
A native of Cleveland Ohio, Commander Alex Rinaldi graduated from Ohio State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and from Old Dominion University in 2012 with a Masters degree in Engineering Management.
His sea tours include division officer assignment aboard USS Montpelier (SSN 765), Engineer Officer aboard USS Boise (SSN 764), Engineer Officer aboard USS Albany (SSN 753), and as Executive Officer aboard USS Illinois (SSN 786). During these tours he completed overseas deployments in support of operations in the Pacific and European Command theaters as well as a deployment to the Arctic Ocean and the North Pole.
His shore assignments include instructor duty at Submarine Learning Facility Norfolk, Junior Board Member on the U.S. Fleet Forces Command Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board, and various roles on the staff of Commander, Submarine Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards. He was also recognized by the United States Naval Submarine League with the VADM Charles A. Lockwood Award for Submarine Professional Excellence in 2018.
