Senior Enlisted Leader

Master Chief Just, a native of San Diego, California, enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1999 out of Ingleside, Texas. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.

Upon graduation, he proceeded to Naval Station Ingleside, Texas where he completed Mineman “A” school, and Minesweep Boatswain’s Mate “C” School before reporting to the USS DEFENDER (MCM 2). Onboard DEFENDER he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Qualification and achieved the rank of Second Class Petty Officer. In 2002 he reported to Commander Mine Warfare Command (COMINEWARCOM) in Corpus Christi, Texas. There he deployed for Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer and received his first Navy Commendation Medal. After his tour at COMINEWARCOM, he reported to Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Mine Countermeasures Detachment (MCM) 2 in San Diego, California. In 2009 he advanced to Chief Petty Officer. After his LCS tour he transferred to Mine Warfare Training Center in San Diego, California where he served as an Instructor and leading Chief petty Officer for Tactics, “A”, and “C” Schools. There, he obtained his Master Training Specialist qualification and advanced to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. In 2014 Senior Chief Just became the Senior Enlisted Leader for LCS MCM Detachment 6 “The Javelinas” in San Diego, California. There he commissioned USS MONTGOMERY (LCS 8) and USS CHARLESTON (LCS 18). In 2019 he reported to NMCPAC CWD Unit Seal Beach in Seal Beach California as the Senior Enlisted Leader. In July of 2021 he was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer.

He currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader at Mobile Mine Assembly Group in San Diego California.

Just is an Honor Graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 226/Khaki). His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
