CDR Andrew Miller

CDR Drew Miller, a native of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, graduated from the University of Florida in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned at Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.

Following initial naval nuclear propulsion and submarine training, he reported to USS BUFFALO (SSN 715) where he served in several division officer assignments from June 1996 to October 1999. During his time onboard, the ship completed two Western and two Eastern Pacific deployments and was awarded the Submarine Squadron ONE Battle Efficiency 'E'.

In November 1999, CDR Miller was assigned to the University of Minnesota Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit where he served as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science through December 2001. During his tenure, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota.

Following completion of the Submarine Officer Advanced Course in June 2002, CDR Miller reported aboard USS MAINE (SSBN 741 Gold) as Engineer Officer. During his tour, the ship completed four strategic deterrent patrols and earned the USSTRATCOM Omaha Submarine Ballistic Missile Trophy and the Submarine Squadron SIXTEEN Battle Efficiency 'E'.

CDR Miller was subsequently assigned to Naval Reactors from December 2004 to September 2007 and served as Technical Assistant and Flag Aide to the Director. While at Naval Reactors, he completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I. Following this tour, he completed Joint and Combined Warfighting School JPME Phase II course at the Joint Forces Staff College.

In February 2008, he reported to USS BREMERTON (SSN 698) as Executive Officer. During his tour, the ship completed Western and Eastern Pacific deployments.

In January 2010, CDR Miller reported to U.S. Pacific Command as Branch Chief for Current Maritime Operations in the J-3 Directorate. He detached from USPACOM in February 2012 and reported to relieve as Commanding Officer of USS CHARLOTTE (SSN 766) in October 2012.
