Commanding Officer, Gold Crew, USS Maine

Commander Martín Roschmann is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He enlisted in the Navy in 2001 as a Nuclear Electronics Technician. He was selected for the STA-21 commissioning program and graduated from The Citadel in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Following his initial nuclear and submarine training, he served as division officer aboard USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN 736)(GOLD) in Kings Bay, GA. After he completed his division officer tour in 2010, Commander Roschmann reported to Nuclear Power Training Unit in Ballston Spa, NY, as a shift engineer and staff training officer until 2013.

He served as the Weapons Officer aboard the USS CHARLOTTE (SSN 766) in Pearl Harbor from 2014 to 2018, completing one Western Pacific deployment. In August of 2018 he reported to the staff of Commander, Submarine Forces Atlantic in Norfolk, VA, where he served as an inspector on the Combat Readiness Evaluation team and completed a Joint Service Chiefs Fellowship at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in Washington, D.C.

From 2019 to 2021 he served as the Executive Officer on USS VERMONT (SSN 792) in Groton, completing initial at-sea testing, Commissioning, and the first-ever visit of a U.S. nuclear submarine to Itaguaí, Brazil. In 2021, he transferred to the Undersea Warfighting Development Center in Groton, CT, where he served as the head of the tactical development and deputy director of the Tactical Analysis Group.

CDR Roschmann has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
