Commander Lee "Randy" Fike

Commanding Officer, Gold Crew, USS Kentucky

CDR Fike is a native of Grand Prairie, TX. In 1997, he enlisted in the Navy as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate. In 2000, he was accepted to the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with the class of 2004. Following graduation, he completed the naval Nuclear Propulsion pipeline at NNPTC and NPTU Charleston, SC. He then completed SOBC in New London, CT in February 2006.

CDR Fike reported to USS La Jolla (SSN 701) for his first sea tour. While onboard, he completed two Western pacific Deployments. CDR Fike’s Department head tour was as Strategic Weapons Officer onboard USS Louisiana (SSBN 743)(GOLD) from January 2012 to August 2014, where he completed 5 strategic deterrent patrols. He relieved as Executive Officer onboard USS Henry M. Jackson (SSBN 730)(BLUE) in March of 2017. During his tour he completed an extended refit period and one strategic deterrent patrol. Ashore, CDR Fike served as the Port Operations Officer at naval Ordnance Test Unit, Cape Canaveral, FL, Weapons Officer Submarine Squadron 17, and J871 Branch Chief at USSTRATCOM.

CDR Fike’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1), Meritorious Service Medal (1), Navy Commendation Medal (3), the Navy Achievement Medal (2), and various other unit and campaign awards.
