CMC Daniel Smith
Command Master Chief
Command Master Chief Smith, a native of Bay City, Texas, graduated from Bay City High School in May of 1989 and enlisted in the United States Navy in December of 1989. He holds a Bachelor in Science Degree in Marine Electronics and is an honor graduate of the U.S. Naval War College Senior Enlisted Academy as well as recipient of the Peter Tomich Award for Distinguished Leadership.
His sea duty assignments include USS SIMON BOLIVAR (SSBN 641), USS MARYLAND (SSBN 738), USS HONOLULU (SSN 718), and The Chief of the Boat onboard USS TENNESSEE GOLD (SSBN 734). During his sea tours he qualified SONAR Supervisor, Chief of the Watch, and Diving Officer of the Watch. His duties included SONAR LCPO, First Lieutenant, Weapons Department Leading Chief and Chief of the Boat. His shore assignments include Lead Instructor for the Advanced SONAR Employment Pipeline, SONAR Evaluator and Team COB for the COMSUBPAC Tactical Readiness Evaluation Team, Weapons Department Leading Chief for Commander, Submarine Squadron TWENTY, and Intelligence Department Master Chief for Commander Undersea Surveillance.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Good Conduct Medal (six awards), National Defense Service Medal (two awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
