Submarines USS Hartford, USS Connecticut surface together in the Arctic Circle

Ice Camp Skate (March 10, 2018) – Seawolf-class submarine USS Connecticut SSN 22 and Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Hartford SSN 768 breakthrough the ice March 9, 2018 in support of Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2018. ICEX 2018 is a five-week exercise that allows the Navy to assess its operational readiness in the Arctic, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment, and continue to develop relationships with other services, allies and partner organizations. (April 27, 2017) Sonar Technician 2nd Class Andrew McFarland, assigned to Trident Training Facility (TTF) Bangor, tests the OceanLens, which uses an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset to create a 3D immersive environment for visualizing undersea topography, during the Innovation Lab (iLab) roadshow held at Trident Training Facility Bangor.
